Isn't it rather annoying, that just when you are in your bed and at the first levels of trying to get sleep, you suddenly start to feel more lonely, start to think some of the most negative "What if...?" questions in your mind, hear a sound that may come off from your room, room next to your room or from anywhere and realize how vulnerable you are at that specific moment and start to become bit more paranoid and insomniac?
I've had these quite for a while. And it takes "eternity" to get to the best part where you are "safe", which is the state where your body and mind is completely asleep.

*Sigh* Maybe I should start considering getting a plushie for these things.

I hate these moments. They are rare, but still... had one few days ago. It was partly due to a jerk over here on FA. Some old grudge that I had against him for calling me annoying and telling me I've never been his friend. :<
Well, hang in there, dragon. You aren't that alone. *hugs* ^'===='^;

ugh... the paranoia before sleep thing....
I got this from reading full metal alchemist one evening. it was a chapter where one of the main villains is introduced in the most terrifying way ever. I became very very scared of the dark that night. I kept thinking the main villain was going to eat me in my sleep from the shadows as his horrid eyes glared at me whilst his teeth gnaws at my poor form.
ugh... the what if's that night went from "it'll never happen" to "make it stop! MAKE IT STOP!!!"

I recall having this problem up until I was a my middle teens, then I just worrying about it. Though sometimes when I watch over a house I sometimes feel like what you describ here. If it bothers me too much I either let the peoples dog sleep with me (if the mutt has been house trained) or invite a friend over for the night.
Though you are perfectly safe big guy. So just let yourself relax.
