Spectrat are a non-native species to the region, having been brought here unintentionally by sailors long ago. Now they are found across the region, but no where more prominently then the Capital where they dwell hidden within the walls and wires of buildings, feeding on the electricity. Spectrat spend most of their time scurrying about looking for sources of electricity to feed on. When they do so it can cause electronics, lighting and other appliances to act strangely. If enough Spectrat feed on the same source they can cause mass blackouts, as such trainers are encouraged to catch them when ever possible to reduce the wild population.
