I am so glad I don't have a fear of needles. I know a lot of people who do and it seems like it would suck. The only thing for me is I feel better if I can see when it's happening. I had a nurse try to block my view once so I told her than and she seemed confused, but did respect it.
I'm the same way. I think it's instinctive to tense up when you're anticipating a sudden pain but don't know exactly when or where it'll happen, but I've always found I'm able to keep completely still and relaxed if I watch the needle go in -- whether it's for injections or blood draws, it's just easier for everyone if I can see the needle.
ouch! I needed a lot of bloodtests as a tween due to (non food) allergies and stuff, and they used to stick me with much largerer then needed needles for ages. Then they abrubtly switched to much smaller ones withhout an explation. My guess is a new madate or even law got passed to MAKE then use 'more apprtoptaely sized' needles on paitants.
