Yawnstretch
I'm really happy with how this one turned out. After how much I liked 'Ascent' I felt like trying another one with sort of weird perspective going on (purely coincidence that it makes that forepaw so prominent, of course). I got kind of on a roll while doing this one, especially while working on the highlighting and shading, which is always a fun part because it really makes your drawing feel like it's leaping into 3D. I had one of those times where it feels like you've found your muse and stayed up until about 5am just working and working and being delighted with how it was turning out. I'm especially happy with how I got the feathers to turn out, here complete with justwokeupfloof; the mouth, which was very hard to find reference art for; and the whole look of the blue color and how it's lit. At present, this one and 'Ascent' are the two pictures I can especially point to and say 'that's me... that's what I look like.' And for one such as I that's a really neat feeling to be able to get. Squee. ^..^

Teehee. You notice that when you see a cat or dog yawn, that they sort also manage to show off all their fangs and look reasonably scary, even if probably not intending to... I figure the same principle probably applies with dragons. Which is funny because regardless of how big I may be I'm probably one of the least-scary critters out there...
