Oh goodness, only 3 days remain until something BIG finally rises over the horizon!~
Although...something has been on my mind...we've seen many horrors turn taut...but few relating to the festivity of the hour...why don't we fix that?~
Even when massive changes are ongoing, Hallow's Eve stops for nothing, nothing can stop the rise of all sorts of ghoulish tricks and treats, especially when the moon begins to grin with an ominous glowing smile not unlike a jack-o-lantern. Dead trees and branches begin to recombine, have new undeath sewn into them, and gain minds once foreign to them. These new visages of life, "Splinterlings" as they are known, are some of the most common halloween hauntings in this world, besides humanoid figures such as scarecrows and dolls moving on their own, or even furniture being tossed every which way by a mischievous poltergeist.
These beings tend to cause trouble, but they don't pose much of a threat, the worst they usually do is harass those who deny the festive spirit that gave them form...but this particular night was rather different. The mortals they would play with and use for their amusement were...heftier. FAR bigger, far softer...and more...rubbery?
A singular Splinterling tried to trip and push a near half-ton fox, but was simply pushed aside. Even clawing at their feet and gnawing on their legs had no effect, it was too blubbery and stretchy to make a dent!
As if that weren't enough...something began to eclipse the moon and have an interesting effect...something huge and dark...with it's only features being a pair of MASSIVE, ovular silhouettes bulging far out of its' main body...~
The moment it obscured the moon, the sky went dark...and a distinct sound of hissing began to be heard from all directions surrounding the supernatural beings...as one by one, they blew up! The addition of this taut, planetary 3rd party had led to something interfering with their magical properties...it didn't hurt them...but they were beginning to take on aspects of said blimp! Swelling up rapidly and beginning to float into the sky, the little tree monsters had no choice but to watch as they and their fellow brethren swelled to immense size...and began to realize just how wonderful it truly was~
Increasingly deep giggles and cackles rang out, as their forms swelled to goofy proportions, orange glowing eyes puffing out to illuminate the sky like bloated fireflies, branches from their heads and backs became a bouquet of randomly sized blimps, sharp-ended limbs became smoothed off into spheres that rubbing and creased up tightly against their completely spherical bodies, one Splinterling in particular had swelled so much larger, surely having been one of the first to fully embrace this form~
From below, the sight was beautiful, hundreds of orange, glowing bulbs illuminating the sky, almost looking like stars!~
...and soon...?~
Well, they and many others might just be comparable to such wonderful celestial bodies in size within only a few more days~
==========================================================
Been running a bit low on actual horror stuff as of late that I can use, but I figured I may as well do something fitting the month's general aesthetic!~ Hence, I did an enemy from the Pumpkin Moon event in Terraria that I really, REALLY like =w=
