part of a set of 'freeform' commission pieces of a trio of characters! A eurasian lynx, a piebald Tanuki, and an adolescent donkey (but past sexual development tresholds for his species...).
The narrative is not my own; it is the commissioner's world. I'm only doing my best to depict & describe it.
Among these three is a tangled dynamic of confused, unmet needs, obtuse and uninvestigated feeling. The lynx had discovered the escaped fur farm subject, Senka the tanuki, when she was only a baby, and acts as her guardian .... though she herself is not so mature, an early orphan in her own life. She'd like to think of herself as protective of her innocent and unfit-for-the-wild ward, but her emotions here might be more like ... jealousy. Though nothing is stopping her from doing as she pleases, she's too stubborn to find out just what 'she pleases' even is.
The donkey admires the mystical, wild girls, who are equally impressive to him... the gap between the farm-bred Senka and the wild-born Visnja is invisible to him, beast of burden. They are living a life he can only dream of, in that tangled bramble of woods. He's a well-meaning, but stupid, boy. He's happy for any attention he can get, and at a needy part of his own development which can make him clueless and boorish. While trying to do his best, sometimes he can't please anybody!!!
Draza runs to meet the girls at a woven fencing along the perimeter of forest; where their worlds meet. Farmhouses and a sheep herd are seen in the distance. Senka (Tanuki) has childishly plucked some wildflowers she's observed being eaten by other herbivores in the woods, a friendly courtesy she doesn't think twice about. Visnja's tail swishes about as she watches .... =.=
