Check out the rules behind the 20 Minute Story ideas Here. Otherwise you can go Here to see other stories I have written so far for October.
Kicking off the return of the 20 minute stories I missed. You can check out information from This Journal on the matter.
For our current story we take a bit of a macro twist on one of those older game shows where contestants are let loose in a shopping mall to try and grab as many products as possible with the chance to take it all home for free even when they grab thousands of dollars of items, games and clothing.
For October 10th, the writing prompt was 'Shopping Addict - What happens to someone who can't stop shopping? ' and the theme was 'Root'.

The most common iteration was a sort of game show that they had kids on where they let them loose into a toy store. You would often see the kids rushing for the things they liked most over going for more expensive and easier to acquire items as the big deal is it needs to be in a sort of "check out' area in the end rather than their cart. I know there was at least one variation for adults but it really didn't last too long.
As is with most things, once people figured out the best way and route to get what they want and make it worth a lot of money, it was easier to beat the system the game show was set in so they would lose more money than they maintained with such a show design.

I didn't realise it was originally a toy store thing, but it makes sense because I know that would be good viewing. There's also a lot of other ways a macro spin could be put on this, like how I can easily imagine macros that are big enough collecting planets or cataloguing solar systems.
