Riley is Jo'ey's childhood friend and life-long supporter, he has always looked up to her (quite literally) as she grew up to be a strong willed tomboy who while she had to fend off plenty of boys always made time to spend with him. This surprised him as he was always so very shy back then and short for his age and didn't think himself worthy of attention by a girl like her who had her pick of the boys. After the incident their friendship only grew and he's been her biggest supporter going to every one of her fights and even to training, he has never fully forgiven himself for not walking home with her that day as he had an evening class. Though Jo'ey has told him often enough she does not blame him for anything since there's no telling if it would have even made any difference or made things worse since she had barely escaped on her own.

The two of them have recently gone steady which was an even bigger shock to him due to their differences, not just in species, since she towers over him now and he is a rather femmy looking five foot eight buck. Though he has embraced his looks and occasionally wears more feminine clothing since most would think twice about picking on him when he's with Jo'ey. This also has given him more confidence to stand up for himself and just be himself without a care for not fitting in or standing out sometimes. He's also looking forward to havign a part in her training once he finishes his studies to become a dietician, which he gained an interest in due to his food allergies requiring regular visits to a dietician.
