Here's an OC that used to be on my DeviantArt account, but I'm gonna transfer over to my FA account.
Name: Arthra Pleura
Species: Megabug!Arthropleura
Gender: Bi Cis Female
Age: 20
Birthday: November 15th
Length: 5ft (human segment) 3ft per segment
Weight: 280lbs (human segment) 50-75 lbs per segment.
Personality: persistent, gluttonous, predatory, takes gut feeling to a whole new meaning,
Powers: Regeneration, powerful metabolism, splitting, venomous bite
Likes: Eating anything she can get her hands on, especially sweets, people who feed her
Dislikes: prey getting away
Predator Type: Ambush/Hunter
Bio: Arthra has always been a girl with a hunger as vast as her segmented body. Having been consumed by gluttony ever since she was a larva, Arthra is always on the move for food. When she finds prey, she tries to sneak up to them and pin them with her belly as she injects them with venom. Symptoms of Arthra's venom include dizziness, bloating, indigestion, fatique, and paralysis, which lasts long enough for Arthra to swallow her meal whole.
Arthra could also be considered biologically immortal because if her human segment is destroyed, the segment that follows it will begin regenerating and molting into another human form of her. This even works if Arthra is split down the middle, as the split halves will regenerate into clones of Arthra. This molting is reminiscent of the Centipede Arcade game.
Despite her name, DNA samples of Arthra shows she's neither invertebrate nor veterbrate, but a mix of the two known as an "Arthrochordata" or more informally as "Megabug". This recently discovered phylum is seen as the missing link between vertebrates and arthropods. These animals still possess the Arthropods' exoskeletons and antennae, but their internal organs and respiratory system more closely resembles vertebrates than bugs and the mineral used for their exoskeleton is primarily made of Cartilage instead of Chitin.
This means that unlike true Arthropods, Arthrochorodate growth is not restricted by atmospheric oxygen and their exoskeletons are much more reinforced than their invertebrate counterparts. Unfortunately, this also means that, like sharks, the exoskeletons of these wonderful creatures does not stick around for long or fossilize well, hence why the megabugs are such an understudied species.
Overall, despite her strange lineage she belongs to, Artha is a fascinating predator in her own right, being capable of taking down big prey alongside devouring an entire store's worth of sweets in a single feeding. She is also very hard to take down due to her regenerative factor rivaling a starfish, and she's a bit smart enough to set up ambushes for her prey, though if you get on her good side with food, she'll be a trustworthy friend.
* On my DA, megabugs are said to be arthropods with both humanlike qualities and sizes large enough to be considered their own species. The same will be true for this continuity as well, but I will also be including other species design that mix arthropod designs with other vertebrate types, like for example, a rat with an antlike body.
* The longest Arthra has ever gotten without splitting in half was 175 segments (527ft)
* Due to her eating habits, Arthra has to constantly molt her exoskeleton since she gains so much weight and segments from her binges, the incoming fat bursts open her exoskeleton constantly
* She's so fat that her venom glands produce venom that's mixed with lard, which is where the bloating symptom comes in.
* Arthra's name is obviously a play on both Arthropod and the extinct Arthropleura.
