Meet Corona Whizzby, Raboot sk8ter gurl, chronic tomboy, and rebel without a cause. Older sister to the nerdiest Scorbunny you've ever met, and daughter to a loud soccer mom Cinderace and hopelessly bookish Herdier. Fixing to head into college, on the cusp of graduating Poke-high, she's just old enough not to offend the more sensitive suitors, but just young enough to make only the most squeamish sort feel icky.
Growing up in a relatively privileged home, Corona naturally took to a rebellious lifestyle, taking after her rambunctious mom in some ways, and going opposite to her nerdy daddy in other ways. She skates, she vandalizes, she battles, and she gets into all sorts of mischief for the sheer fun of it. Some would call it a phase, perhaps, but it all began when her little brother, Maxwell, was born and she became second-fiddle to him. Terrible two's indeed, however it was two year old Maxwell who was well behaved, while the still-Scorbunny Corona became the wild child, in a desperate bid for attention in a household with a fresh child. But with slight histrionic tendencies, it was a hard bid to fulfill. Her mom, ever the go-getter, only egged her on, while she instead fought for the attention of her scholarly daddy, who was more preoccupied with raising up a thoughtful young man. Indeed, Corona's mom had a stronger role in influencing her, while her dad gave extra attention to their son, right down to who got to pick the names.
Little Corona never quite got the attention she deserved from her parents, always being less than her golden child little brother, whom she likes to antagonize at home... Or so it all seems in her mind. In reality, she went through what many kids go through, being the older sibling of a new little one, but a tad too on the spoiled side to properly process it in a healthy sort of way. She wanted for little growing up, with and without sibling, and even now she still doesn't buy her own clothes. Her parents love her, even if she can be a cranky pain in the tail half the time.
She takes after her mom usually, but despite that she winds up feeling most embarrassed by her. Or perhaps because of that? Her mom takes her nonsense with a hearty helping of salt, and usually responds with an award winning sense of humor, more like an embarrassing dad. Maybe she would rather her mom kick her halfway across the yard instead of heckling her with a side of noogie, but it just isn't happening. It's not much better with her dad either, a Herdier gentleman who's a local teacher and level balance to her wild mom. He's not much of a disciplinarian himself, suited to just hoping that Corona will calm down in time, as he'd witnessed repeatedly with his former students. He spends an awful lot of time with his son, who really takes after him as Corona does with her mom, another fact that the attention loving older daughter seems to resent.
And yet, despite all this, she'd be lost without them. And she knows it. She can't claim to understand why she feels so distant from her family, and tends to shut down when questioned about it. She can't find any bring herself to say that she hates anyone, least of all her parents. She even finds herself doing part time work during holidays and birthdays to afford some presents on her own power, before going right back to being bratty and distant. And Arceus help anyone who picks on her little brother, she would break them in half. Only she is allowed to pester her little bro, of course. You can pick on her all you'd like, but her bro is innocent, she's the family disappointment... Could it be that maybe it all comes down to her own depressive lack of self-worth that she's so short with her family and schoolmates all the time, and acting out at all opportunities, and that maybe she just desperately wants someone to tell her that she matters by standing up to her and taking her down a peg or two because she's going to wind up in prison if she continues down this road, and that she's so much better than she lets people see?
...Nah, she's just a natural screw up and a natural outcast, and will probably cry and kick you in the shins if you get her to talk about her feelings. Surely nothing deeper than that, that would just be soppy wouldn't it? Nahhh. Let's go vandalize a train car and see who can smoke an entire cig without puking. Listen to some ICP and swill some Faygo. Hit the skate park and struggle to do a kickflip for half an hour. Maybe even heckle a passing politician if we can spot one. Play a game of Yu-Gi-Oh or two. Loser's gotta rub her feet though. :3
