Today marks the 30th anniversary of the SWAT Kats episode, "Chaos in the Crystal", in which a prison thug worker, Rex Shard, was sent to mine some crystal with a new device. With his greed, he try to "take some off the top" for himself... which then exploded and turn him into a growing crystal mutant monster that has a Midas Touch and grow into a giant Kaiju creature, typical Tuesday for MegaKat City.

Since the 30th anniversary is "pearl theme", and when you are a constantly growing and expanding monster, what better pearls to have than the ones in the night sky. Especially when you can engross them within your crystal body and add to your overall mass. And looks like he found a good little jewel to help bring out his OTHER bicep....

At the height of the his power (in the show), Rex could handle ALOT of hits and could crystalize an entire water reservoir... if left uncheck, Shard's greed and growth would be on a COSMIC level. Dude was a jerk thug to went on being a near unstoppable force of nature! Also loved how he went half crystal to full on, and then more and more of a monster, who isn't above making jewel jokes to his ant-size victims. Also smart enough to use sunlight and his body to make lasers. DEFINITELY a cool villain.

Looking forward to the new show and whatever fan-stuff people can come up for this jerk.
