Old-fashioned teeth removers. They're sweet, but that's all they are. No tang, no savory, no salt and no chocolate hit.
We used to call Necco wafers "Yucko" wafers.
We'd try to avoid houses with a history of giving those out. You didn't want to egg them, though, because the folks were old and really nice.
