🐇 Amaranth Duval/Belrose 🐇
Male - Gay - Human (Witch)- He originally comes from France and speaks French as his first language.
- Has albinism, causing his skin to be incredibly sensitive to the sunlight.
- He’s blind
- Tends to wear a lace blindfold over his pink eyes since they’re viewed as unnatural.
- Specializes in healing-based magics, as well as herbalism, and potion brewing.
- His mother was a healing witch named Dahlia Belrose who got found out by the Catholic Church. In a desperate attempt to save her baby, she left him on the doorstep of an elderly woman’s cottage home, under the watchful eye of her feline familiar, Hemlock, before ultimately being struck down by the witch hunters and later burned at the stake.
- The woman, Colette Duval, was a close friend of Dahlia’s and took in the boy, though was forced to hide him away since his albino appearance was a clear indicator of who his mother was. Hemlock followed, being accepted into the family as a pet.
- Collette taught Amaranth to embrace his own magic, training him in healing and herbalism like his mother had specialized in before him. She was also losing her hearing at the time so she taught Amaranth sign language as well.
- In Collette’s older years, she became bedridden and lost her hearing altogether. Amaranth became her sole caretaker, having to brave the humans from time to time in order to purchase supplies and food. He wore a cloak and blindfold in order to blend in and hemlock acted as his seeing-eye cat.
- Despite his attempts to go unsuspected, the beautiful, mysterious, figure managed to garner the attention of some of the local clergymen who eventually cornered Amaranth in an attempt to court him. Things turned less peaceful when Amaranth, in utter fear, denied their advances. The persistent men ended up yanking away both Amaranth’s hood and his blindfold, revealing him before Hemlock caused a distraction and allowed Amaranth to escape.
- It was only days later when the witch hunters came, setting Amaranth’s house ablaze with both him and his mother inside of it.
- With Hemlock’s help, Amaranth managed to escape and flee into the woods, though his mother who was confined to her bed ultimately burned alive alongside their home. She had insisted on him leaving her behind to save himself, her last words being “Je t’aime mon fils.”, “I love you, my son.”
- After fleeing from their home, Hemlock began leading Amaranth somewhere new, as per his mother’s orders. She had connections to a coven in America and knew that her son would be safe in their care.
