During the heyday of Metroid711 and I's recreational transformative antics, a brief but memorable one was the Ol' "Stumble Upon Discarded, Probably Cursed Lawn-Grade Inflatable Air Pumps" routine and ending up as inflatable pumpkin lawn decorations. It always stuck with me despite how short the adventure lasted, partially due to the visual references we used that I always felt had more substantial potential.
Well, a 2nd attempt at the misadventure has often been talked about, but thus far we haven't found the opportunity to do so. Thus the next-best thing is to break out the sketchbook and rudimentary image-editing software and give the idea "quality" visuals, is it not?
The pumpkins themselves have been sitting in my files for over a year now actually, and still have some of the hallmarks of a rough cut if you look closely enough. But I felt like going as far-in as I could with background/foreground elements to spruce the pumpkins' setting up, as well as enhance the point that our newly-pumpkin'd personas are enjoying the experience with as much happy interaction as they can muster in these forms. This would qualify as a bit on the "living inanimate" spectrum if we were to be technical. Think I overall did a good job, not sure how well I communicated the presence of a lamppost as a main source of the lightning as I originally shaded the pumpkins, but the jiggle-motion effects seem to help a lot (a good thing with how tedious they were with my current setup). And I'm fairly happy with how the air pumps themselves came out with how last-minute they were to draw in.
Happy Halloween, y'all. Pumpkins are eternally good.
