The Player's Johnathan was a charmer, smooth talker, a jockey, and appeared to be a very caring person. But in all reality he was the type of person that must have things his way, and every woman he layed his eyes on he considered beautiful. If his words didn't get him what he wanted then he would resort to using cruel and malicious means to get it.

Rita loved her li'l Boston Terrier Jethro with all her heart, the pooch was #1 to her and no one or another dog was ever going to take his place. Jethro has a tail, so she didn't get a purebred according to what i've read.

Johnathan shut Jethro out of the house in the front yard which lead to the poor thing's life being hit by a car. When Johnathan went to kill Edgar next to get Sabrina's full attention the witch used her magic and Jethro's remains which Rita refused to let go, to turn Johnathan and all his toughness into a tiny dog that is far more cute than imposing.
