Just a picture of me in a phone booth for use as an ID here on FA.
I'm still a believer in land lines and payphones. I have a cell phone and I think smartphones are nice but every once and a while when my cell durps on me I like having other options.
By the way, it's worth mentioning that it was this booth in particular that inspired the piece in my gallery that has Rachel calling in a phone booth.

Ha ha! Your comment just brought these comics I found a while ago to mind.

While it's nice that cell phones are getting better, it's kind of sad that a part of Western Culture is fading so fast. Could be the nostalgia talking, though.

Even better was something that happened the other day. I have a rotary dial phone in my living room mainly for its loud ringer (and the phone has better speaker sound than any other phone in my house). A kid was visiting with my little brother and when the friend went to use the phone, he just stared at it for a second before actually asking "how do I call using this?" Mind you, the kid's in junior high and knows his way around a smartphone. I wanted to laugh so much.
I've seen YouTube videos of stuff like that but didn't think I'd actually see it happen anytime soon in person. There almost needs to be "Tech history" classes in schools at some point.

Didn't recognise an NES or SNES? Ha ha. You've got my story beat. I still have my SNES from its early production years. Super Mario World was my first videogame ever. Some of the greatest games in history came from the 80s and 90s. Some of my favorites are "LoZ: A Link to the Past" and the DKC series.
(BTW, for some added fun with a game, hook it up to a black and white television and play that way. That can be a challenge even when you know the game.)
Agreed. I'll play the first two Halo games; but otherwise first person shooters aren't really my thing. Yet FPS's are almost all I see for the PS3 and 360. The older games might not be as flashy as the current stuff, but many of those games were solidly built. I love Yoshi's Island. Great game. Difficult at times (those extra stages...argh) but not too bad. Same with the DKC games, including Returns (great game too).
I think that's why the older games that are well known still have a following. Quite a few of them had a good balance of fun/challange. Like the first fight with Kaptain K.Rool in DKC2. That was hard in part because it was so long. Ya couldn't spam the boss dead. Yet ya wanted to keep going. Then there's the music. Great soundtracks in many of those games. The industrial theme from the first DKC is one of my all-time favorites.
These days, except for a number of titles put out my Retro/Nintendo, modern games are either laughably easy or stupid hard for any number of reasons. Bad 3D camera, too many bottomless pits, or "overwhelm the player with enemies" syndrome.
Okay, wall of text done for now.

Strategy potential is probably why I like the first Halo game. Otherwise the "run-and-gun" titles for me are more of a flash-in-the-pan kind of deal. Like you the interest just isn't there. Nintendo is making bank on these "revisit" titles they're putting out and for good reason. Even Sega did well with part one of Sonic 4.
Donkey Kong Country Returns is worth the money. Lots of replay value. Even the K-O-N-G letters go towards unlocking stuff. The collectable Puzzle pieces are often well hidden (even some of the bonus levels are tricky to find) and frequently reqire solving puzzles or just thinking out how to get to them. The game feels like a Donkey Kong game. Challanging but still fun. I'm also watching YouTube user Batman9502 do a Let's Play of the game on Gameanyone http://www.gameanyone.com/game/Wii/8530.html I like his manner of presentation. I'd like to see a sequal to DKCR.

Thanks for the compliment. (Yay for cute!)
Phone booths are cool. It's nice to be able to go in, shut the door, and talk in relative quiet.
And ah, yes. The Man of Steel. One of the most iconic comic book characters ever created. *Watches and waits for Superman to show up*
