Nope I would say Mindgear is Buns and always has been. Reason why Rhino hates every psychic and Buns detests the League. Something happeend which made Buns loose his mind and go rogue and Rhino instead of helping wanted to eliminate him. The symbiotes might have been an invention of Buns to get his paranoia under control that made him go mad.

My bet's Bun's busted the baddie from jail to beat on heroes and have his muscle bound brutes swoop in to save the day. Create the problem, sell the solution. Classic business.

Way too convenient that now that Buns' operation is ready a psychic mad hero returns sane and we all saw the insane Buns before he got send on vacation.
