By the way, I picked up "What It Is!" last month and it was so good I had to go change my underwear.

Don't worry, I wasn't comparing them thematically. And is it worth buying the record set? It looked good, but the $50-$70 tag scared me off.

I felt it was worth it, but if you expect lots of flashy electronic Parliament/Funkadelic type stuff you will be disappointed. It's more like a low-budget James Brown, downhome gutbucket funk, the early roots of funk from Jazz, Soul, Blues. Lots of "acid jazz" instrumental and Groove material which later hip-hop DJs sampled excessively. The dusty, soulful tone of a Hammond B3 organ is one of my favorite sounds .. hearing it played well can actually make me cum!

Let's just say that "What It Is!" was an orgasmic listening experience for me.
