Mara: I, the fantastic, bombastic tree witch Mara have defeated this pirate who came to rob me!
Kid: But I'm not a pirate! It's just a costume!
Mara: . . .
Mara: I knew that.

Mara's not to bright, so every Halloween, when she sees spooks and monsters and pirates coming to her house, she thinks she's being attacked and defends herself with her magic potions. They're contact effective, so she only needs to splash them and suddenly they're no longer a threat. And she always gets candy for her troubles, too. It's like a video game!
