just a quick picture i made of ushiwakamaru minamoto, the samurai of the heian period and highly renowned in japan. more popularly known as yoshitsune in his later years...YES, THIS IS A BOY!!!!!!
if you read about his history, it describes him as being very feminine in appearence at the age of 14 or 15. i based this picture off of what he looked like in the paintings of when he fought another famous warrior named benkei at gojo bridge.
i made this picture as a kind of venting method... im extremely fascinated with ushiwakamaru and his life as a warrior (and i might even have a crush on him ^3^), so when i heard about the flood in japan, i took it in a slightly personal way. not only is that his home country, but i fear that the memorials dedicated to him will be damaged or destroyed if this gets any worse... im just a little bummed right now. may the beautiful and courageous ushiwakamaru rest in peace.

It's been a long time, but if memory serves, didn't he disguise himself as a woman to throw off those who were hunting him down? Also, this is an excellent picture! Many men who saw the emperor would dress and makeup themselves in such a manner, and would also put black ink on their teeth. Anyway, I love your art style and was curious if you had the time and charity to do a comission for me?
