Freddy Fazbear? Ur Ur Ur [spoiler-less review @ desc]
So, Ibiss managed to sneak a pizza slice into the Five Nights and Freddy's premiere! Y'all know, a movie about a pizzeria is asking for a pizza, as much as that one group of people that got a entire trash container full of bananas to the Minions movie. (Unfortunately, I haven't done it IRL because the supermarket I could have got a pizza from was closed that day, and to be fair, who knows how Ibiss managed to sneak a slice to begin with. Plus, the room was full with people and had to be in the lower seats. It was a surprisingly crowded premiere, and I thought Avengers: Endgame was crowded.... hah.)
And now that I am up for it, here's a surprise review of the movie (without spoilers), given I watched it this week, just the day after my computer stopped running (got it back and there's a lovely bug I must thank for the support) but I got it back, and so I had to keep the upload pace going on with this drawing, making it the 240th submission! Hey, it's a lot so far.
I'll begin with my pre-watch context. I don't consider myself a FNAF fan, in fact, I didn't like the games mostly due to genre preferences. I understand that one-man games have their limits, specially one with such short dev periods. The issues I see with the FNAF formula are based on my preferences. Overly, I want to feel like I am playing the game, so going to "security guard sim" is a bit of a downer. Plus technique around this game is to put it short, based on focusing on what's going on with some terribly subtle cues, making it a experience too tense for me.
But that's where the movie kicks in. The depth that could have invested me in the videogame was there since minute one, and being fair, I barely played the games and knew almost nothing but the core basics. But it was a fun watch. My friend knew more, and certainly I must say... I am not the only one who had to bear with people clapping over nothing just after the fanservice. But excepting that, the movie got me to enjoy the lore, and I am very happy of how many people it brough together, and serves as proof that videogame adaptations to the big screen aren't limited to the big names, and I can't wait for more movies involving popular indie games. As long as it isn't a Minecraft live action, (for the love of every single star to be counted... this better not happen) I think there's a lot of great ideas to come from indies that became popular. Being a long term fan of Daisuke Amaya's works, you better kid me not about a Cave Story (or who knows, Kero Blaster... or even Ikachan... hell, I'm not ready for that, but they better work with him to bring Ame to the big screen. I would pay happily.)
I give it a 7/10. For somebody in tune with the e-waves, it's a good movie to watch.

Yes, FNAF fans clearly have loved it, and I completely get why. What I don't get why is critics pushing it that low. If we just removed the FNAF part and made everything generic, we would be still getting a relatively enjoyable movie.
You know... a 4/10 if you want to be very crappy about it. I'm glad the fans welcomed it because from what I know, it was a very good adaptation. Though to be fair, from a non-fan perspective, FNAF fits in far better being a thriller movie over being a horror game.
Spooky lore heavy thriller > Scary watch these asshole machines videogame.
