Name: George Thatcher Lovell
Location: Osterville, MA
Date: 1831
Carver: Nathaniel Holmes
"The youth in the midst of present usefulness
and future promise was lost in the disastrous
wreck of the Schooner Warrior of which he was
mate on Block Island. April 9, 1831 where
her commander CAP Oliver Scudder and every
person on board 16 in number perished.
The body whose remains lie beneath this stone
was washed on the island from the wreck, there
buried and thence transferred by his bereaved
Father to this spot beside the grave of his
Mother.
GOD moves in a mysterious way
his wonders to perform
He plants his footsteps in the deep
and rides upon the storm."
