Wow... that made ME tear up too.
Anything related to the innocence, fun and beauty of childhood gets me misty-eyed... too often as adults do we lose our inner child and give in to apathy and despair... When people talk of "prepare for the worst, hope for the best," the buck seems to stop all too often at "prepare for the worst."
This is why I feed my inner-child... why I buy the occasional fast-food kid's meal and maintain a collection of action-figures. Because I can't lose sight of the ability to have fun, and act like I don't have a care in the world... I can grow up and accept responsibility and all that rot, but I think CS Lewis said it best- "When I became a man, I put all childish ways behind me... including fear of childishness and a desire to be very grown up."
Incidentally, when told HE was acting like a child, the Fourth Doctor had this to say... "Well, of COURSE I am! There's no point in growing up if you can't be childish sometimes..."
