Wendigo wyverns are large dragons.
They prefer colder places, especially centuries-old coniferous forests and foothills.
Nutrition:
Wyverns' diet varies depending on the seasons. In cold weather, they are active hunters, feeding on meat, fish and other dragons, including wyverns.
In summer, when there is plenty of food, they prefer berries, root vegetables, nuts and mushrooms. They also eat fresh vegetation and tree bark.
Reproduction:
The Wendigo wyvern breeding season begins in the summer and ends in the fall.
Males fight for the female's attention using horns and the fights are purely demonstrative. Males avoid hurting each other.
Having chosen the winner, the female enters into a relationship with him and after three months gives birth to one to three calves.
The couple spends the entire time of pregnancy and raising the cubs together, taking care of each other. They build large nests and in subsequent seasons the female returns to the old nest.
Born calves are naked, but they can already see. They need warmth and constant food, but at the age of six months they leave the nest to live independently. Females have two mammary glands and feed their calves fatty milk for up to three months.
It takes up to seven years before the calf becomes an adult.
Family:
Wendigo wyverns mate for one season, but continue to maintain a good relationship even when the calves are grown.
They avoid close relationships. The parents allow the calves to live on their territory for several more years, although they do not actively support them.
At the same time, if more than one cub was born in a litter and they all survived, they maintain a strong bond and create a coalition in the future.
Appearance:
Wendigo wyverns can be very different from each other, so how can you tell if it's a wendigo? Quite simple.
This dragon necessarily has a pair of horns of the shape characteristic of artiodactyl animals. They have yellow, orange or red eyes.
Males often have a bright beak and hind legs.
In winter, wendigo wyverns grow fur and change color; in summer, they shed and change color again.
Their skin is always painted in natural, soft colors.
The limbs of wyverns can be adapted to imitate the tracks of other animals, mainly artiodactyls.
If you see a wyvern and it looks like a deer, it is a wendigo wyvern.
Interesting Facts:
- The fur of the Wendigo Wyvern is very soft and retains heat well. Products made from it are very valuable.
- Wyvern milk makes excellent cheese with a pleasant nutty taste.
- Wendigo wyverns scream. Very loud and disgusting, their scream can be heard for ten kilometers. They scream with or without reason, especially adults.
- Seminal fluid, claws and horns of wyverns are valued for witchcraft rituals. They are believed to be able to drive away evil.
- Wendigo wyverns are being tamed! You just need to get into the territory of an adult couple, find and catch the calf. It will scream.
