My roll of vinyl finally arrived! I liked the idea of having decals on the Macbook especially by exploiting the glowing apple, but I'm a stubborn ass that refuses to have stickers that look like any commercially available designs so I made this! This is the result of messing with a box cutter and some paper for 2 hours, the eyes glow :D. Now if only there's a way to make these in batches. I plan to change the design every once in a while.
EDIT: pic is not painfully huge now.

I have a 13 in Pro too, but mine has the clear snap on cover for it.....making it extremely hot when using it. I found a lap desk with fans in it for $15 at my local Costco. I have not had a heating problem yet!! But the plus side of the clear cover is customizable skins. Find/design a pic...print it out...put it under the cover -and- poof your own skin! ^_^
Haha! That's awesome xD I went for the William Tell approach: http://i.imgur.com/aNkMu.png
One word: Plotter.
If you had a program like CAD or something with a plotter, you could make these en bulk. I use to do that sort of work with my uncle back when he made auto decals. :3 However, removing bits that don't need to be part of the decal can be tricky, especially when you grab the wrong bit! D8

That is pretty darned awesome. :D
I've always wanted to personalize my MacBook a bit, but I suffer from the same issue -- I don't want to just grab something mass produced and sold at a store.
What kind of material did you use? I might actually be aware of a way to do these in batch jobs, but I'd want to do a proof-of-concept test run first. :3

I got a 1' by 1' sheet of calendered vinyl off ebay, I think the thickness is perfect for these kind of applications! Dude if there is a cheap way of producing stickers it would be rad. Otherwise I'm contemplating building my own plotter with arduino, an old printer and some stepper motors </long term costly project>.
