From the Doomsday Era Saga Chapter 1, we learn that The Inheritor sees the Demons not having a fair part of their share on what they need to survive, with their increasing popularity, and with the reign of Barbatos; so he decided to break the pact between the Celestial Paradise and the Underground Dwellers by stealing the Ambroisia as part of the pact, so he'd become the ruler and make it fairer for everyone in his faction. And thus, upon consuming it, he's turning into a stronger form of himself (Lord Inheritor), while Kaih The Sunmelter had to stop him, to no avail.
