Not just anyone can join the Royal Guard on Bliscar. One must go through harsh military training for 5 years before being able to join the ranks.
This involves combat, survival, meditation, and the use of battlestims. You will remain lethal until the very end before giving your life to protect the Queen of Bliscar.

Implants give the guards the ability to manipulate metal, leaving most weapons useless against them. To protect themselves in the extremely rare case that an enemy has the same implants, their glaives are made from Solar Glass. A certain kind of stone formed at the equator where glass caves focus light onto one point where pressure and heat is so high, it creates huge crystals that are tougher than diamond. These crystals remain at 100C after being taken from the ground, so just a touch from a Solar Glass blade is excruciating.
