The end result of the first written challenge I ever took on. I liked it enough to publish it here. As a sort of bench mark for future works starring original characters.
The United Republic of Anthromerica is one of the most fat-embracing cultures of the world. After gaining their independence from the Scotainian Empire, obesity was seen as a sign that every citizen, from federal governmental officials to working class Joes were as successful as they obese monarchs of their old empire. As the most economically successful nation in modern history, with plenty of fertile land for growing crops and raising livestock, food was never in short supply, expect it times of crisis. Women are generally fatter than men, since patriarchal values said they should be homemakers, and men the breadwinners.

Well, since The United Republic of Anthromerica is an analogue for the USA, I would imagine in colonial days many citizens wouldn't have the means to get that big, maybe 200 pounds at most. But as the industrial revolution and other societal changes reduced the work load of average citizens, and provided them with a lot more fattening foods (the invention of pre-packaged junk food, for example, they would initially get very excited, but eventually realize the health risks. So the science sector would develop treatments for issues caused by obesity. There would probably be advanced pacemakers and far stronger medicines to aid fat-based health problems in this world.
