I can believe it... the days of the 'poor man's' car. I had a Morris Minor and it was a lot like that too but not quite as lite.

Ah.... the simply classic Citroen 2CV! Designed for farmers who travel on rough roads. The old test for them was driving with eggs in the passenger seat and arriving at the market without a single cracked egg. Plus, they had one of the best suspension systems

Oh, cool! I've seen exactly one in the wild, a yellow one, some yeaars back in Columbus OH.

This is the first time I've seen one in the wild. Great to see that someone's taking care of it.

Back in 2000 when my father, brother and I went to Germany, I saw a crazy combo of a car, the body of a Citroen 2CV with the engine compartment/front end of a Trabant. Regret not taking a picture.

I recall a cartoon from Gilbert Sheldon involving the 2CV. You could take a fully loaded dumptruck at the base of a steep hill and a 2CV with a half mile further back to gain speed for up that same hill. And the dump truck would still move faster up that hill than the 2CV.

I always wanted a 2CV, and wanted personalized plates with 'Lupin 3' or 'Cglistro' for it. it was only after my divorce years later I found one in decent shape even in the right color, but couldn't afford the asking price of $3600, nor a place to garage it.

It was a complete surprise to see one.

When it was introduced, the 2CV was considered to be a blot on the reputation of France, but eventually most people got over it.

They felt the same way about the Eiffel Tower, too.
