Meet Feathers, an American Kestrel who lives at the Medina Raptor Center. She was found and confiscated by police when she was younger, and because she is imprinted cannot return to the wild. Someone had been keeping Feathers in a fish tank, and because she was not getting the proper nutrition or exercise, she had lost almost all of her muscle mass as well as most of her flight and tail feathers when she was rescued.
A not so gentle reminder that wild animals are NOT pets! Your average person out there lacks the proper knowledge and facilities to care for an otherwise wild animal. Wild animals belong in the wild, no matter how cute you think they are.
