Most likely because paper is a good insulator from cold surfaces. Also because they have to be the center of your attention and when yours is on the paper, that paper is an adversary! X)

Thankfully yhe only expensive thing I've lost is my chair. To say it's in shreds is an understatement (next time I get one it'll have to have a hard backside - lesson learned!). For the most part they just like to steal stuff off the shelves. My TMNT figurines are always missing. xD
