Okay! I think I got it this time!
After many practice runs and study sessions, I think I finally figured it out.
For this render, I borrowed an old model of a friend's character that I made a while back and I have to say, this came out pretty well.
I am pretty sure this took me about a week to get.
I will accept this as my default fur and use this for many future models to come.
But for now, I am happy with how it came out.
