In an attempt to make some new friends, Kaelin proposes going for a swim! Jesse, having never learned how to swim, prefers to sit on the edge and watch his tattooed boyfriend flail around in the water - Kaelin had also never learned how to swim, but that doesn't stop him from trying! He can at least manage to stay afloat, which is a good start!

Unfortunately Jesse's social skills are...lacking. He doesn't care much about making friends - Kaelin is all he needs! And even if the sphynx wasn't in his life, Jesse had always managed to find a way to get by without anyone; it was what he was used to. Of course Jesse isn't opposed to making new friends, but having been let down so many times in the past in both big and small ways, the cautious hyena no longer seeks that out. If he was going to make friends, they would have to to come to him.

Kaelin, on the other hand, loves being social and making friends! He gets frustrated sometimes with Jesse's cold demeanor and social inability, but he tries at least to be understanding; he's aware of Jesse's struggles growing up, as well as some of his darker moments in prison. But thankfully Kaelin is a patient cat, and only occasionally has to give the grumpy hyena a nudge in the right direction. The tattooed ex-con remains confident that they can make some new friends here, despite Jesse; if someone could manage to crack the hyena's armour even a little bit, Kaelin knows they'll find the hyena just as warm and kind as he does. But how do you crack that armour in the first place?
