Pretty much. Fa'Rana clan are not yet aware that Yvonne's head has left the premises, and since Illiath is already gone, the Prof is trying to prevent Jerry from causing even more harm. So while it may be a lost cause - or even counterproductive - there is a logical basis for it.

That could be. Though it's worth mentioning that he did not have a normal 'Cubi upbringing and has been trying his best to suppress his emotion-related side. This is one of the reasons he wears a suit at all times, and is probably also related to why he rarely shows his wings.
