The Space Marmotas are led by Queens, the only ones of their race who are sentient and intelligent. Although that may be argued, as they seem to just copy smarter races around them. It is not known if they are actually intelligent, or just instinctually mimicking intelligent behavior.
Their ability to copy and generationally pass on information makes them adept technicians, builders, tinkerers and mechanics. They will always remember HOW to do something, but they may never really know WHY.
