I'm guessing that the Doppelgänger has better reflexes than the original Director Krutin would have. In which case Dem'mit must have been beyond 100% sure that this wasn't him. Because skewering your boss in a case of mistaken identity wouldn't have been good for your career path.
It's still quite a surprise to me, though. I figured the original one was just a greedy politician taking some action under the table to sell the Sheebanians down the river. But then, I'm not familiar with Trides Imperial Hospital so maybe I'm missing something from past lore. Whoever or whatever the Doppelgänger is, they mean nobody any good.
