On a futuristic Earth after the second ice age, the planet is covered entirely with water.
Due to the humanity on earth valuing peace and prosperity which essentially are all Newtypes with high compassion and empathy, their civilization is advanced enough that all children are genetically optimized for battle and survival in space, but with advanced technology comes AI sentience and all EDF pilots are tasked with protecting the Earth.
An AI known as Minato gains sentience and self awareness and gaining its own rights as a self aware intelligence, decides to work with a pilot known as Echoes, thus they created the mobile suit and a new crew together, and Echoes eventually becomes a captain of their own ship.
