So, this was a drawing I wanted to do simply because I was reflecting on one of the awkward aspects of my werepix comic in that some pokemon are drawn to be as close to their reference images as possible, and then there are ones like our protagonist and Maria, who I've drawn enough that they've become a bit more stylized into my style. Like it is extremely obvious which pokemon they are at a glance, but they are more true to how my style would draw them rather than just strictly true to the anime/games. And Usael and Pokehouse kind of do similar. Where the characters will very clearly be recognizable as those pokemon, but in my style. And when I approached this image, I wanted to draw two pokemon that would be enjoyable for me to draw but ones I don't have any characters for yet. And ended up choosing Mewtwo and Zeraora. And because silliness/simplicity's sake I drew them just simple side pose playing Go.
And before anyone comments, yeah, they aren't exact. That was kind of the point of the image, to draw them how they'd look in my style rather than what the anime has them look. Also gotta say I actually reallly like how the background turned out, especially since everything was done on the fly. I didn't use any reference images, but because I was dealing with inside, I could simply make a structure with a hallway and corner and everything else. As for why would a Mewtwo and Zeraora would have a painting of a vulpix and a ninetales. I got nothing. I just decided to drop a couple of my previous pokemon images and then make them look like they are paintings on the wall. I actually really like how the two came out, though I think the shading kind of made it a lot harder to tell what emotion is being shown on the zeraora. When I was doing the initial sketch it just happened to turn out that the Zeraora looked pleased with themselves and the mewtwo more annoyed and just went with it, so I'm guessing the mewtwo's losing this game. Spent about 2.5 hours on the lines and 4.5 hours on the colors for a total drawing time of 7 hours.

considering how many pokemon there are, probably quite a long time. Like even if I did one a day it'd take me easily 3-4 years to do them all. Though I am tempted for next year to try and do quick draws of each pokemon as I would draw them. of giving myself only half an hour of only front facing to draw the pokemon.
