The old tigerkin had worn many hats in his long life. In his youth, he was an officer in the Oplentian military, hunting down threats to the city. Then, when Edmund was conceived, he took a safer job working as captain of the Oplentian city guard. Disgusted by the corruption around him, he turned traitor and began working with the criminal Volpes.
And though he was in a new city, working yet another new job, this time as a forest ranger, Azurium strangely never felt out of place. If anything, strolling the city in the fall season, trees shedding leaves turned beautiful shades of orange and yellow, the smile he wore on his face, warm and sincere, said more than he could with words.
If he could play even a small part in safeguarding the continued prosperity with his role in the Ranger Corp, that would be enough. Doubly so since this is the place that molded his son, Edmund, into the fine young man that he was today when he himself proved unequal to the task.
He knew there was a chance Edmund may never want anything to do with him. And even if that possibility hurt more than anything else ever could, he still had to try to do better: Be better.
To Azurium, this was a strong start.
I'm a huge fan of the fall season, and when I saw this YCH from
Marsel-Defender I knew I had to go for it. As funny as it may be, Azurium started out as little more than a plot device to bring Edmund and Enigma into contact with Volpes, and get the ball rolling on the storyline. But over time, I've grown very fond of the character, and fleshing him out.

At least Azurium can see the possibility of complete rejection from Edmund and is willing to accept that consequence of his choices. But I do have to admit that a part of me wants them both to build something new rather than completely cutting ties with each other.
It also seems that he may have found a backup plan in the Magistrum's Ranger Corps, just incase he decides to leave Oplentis.
