Anyhow, the pose of the moose guy bugs me. Just seems very static, especially compared to the other guy ( which works fine, with the raised arm, and expression ). I guess it doesn't help that his arm is actually crisper and more detailed than the rest of the character. I'm generally having trouble figuring out what exactly happened: All the blood is coming from the guy's mouth, so it doesn't really look like he stabbed him... ? Perhaps he just performed some nasty headbutt, with those antlers of his.
Aside from that it's a very creative scene, though, and an impressive speedpaint at that.
When i sit down to do these things i have absolutely no clue about what i'm going to draw, so they always end up very rushed in pose and composition. Some concept artist use to do thumbs before doing the actual sppedpaint (removing thumbnail time from the final time count, ah those evil evil artists), and that's something i'm going to try too, next time.
I know some artists work like that - Just block in some abstract shapes, textures and such, without any clear idea in mind, and then gradually refine and develop it into a coherent design.
Myself, I usually need to develop at least a basic idea in my mind first, before I can even get started. The abstract and spontaneous approach tends to be more fun, though, so I should try that more often.
That's pretty nice.
I envy your skill to work quickly and go with your heart.
Great work!
On a side note, have you given any additional thought to that trade we discussed earlier? Just say no if you'd rather not- I'll understand.
Ma con amore :D
