Just plucking away after listening to some tunes. Just letting it flow with whatever feels right, not caring what comes out of it. Just enjoying the sounds it makes. Just a nastalgic conversation with an old friend.
At the time of initially getting this commission, I actually had been picking up my bass again, and more often. Sometimes to learn tunes, but also just to mess around and make it fun again. There was a time where I did play fairly regularly with other people, but I had gotten burned out from dealling with multiple things. Playing and learning songs just ended up feeling like a chore, and I ended up dropping it for years. Not to say I was that good, but I'm indeed very rusty with my technique. It's frustrating that I can't really play the way I used to, but I'd like to eventually work back up to where I have fun with it and have it be more natural. I'm not trying to be the next Chris Wolstenholme or Jaco Pastorius or anything like that. I just want to let it be a relaxing way to unwind and be and emotional release for once.

The Jazz Bass model I have has a great feel for me, and gorgeous tone. It's fairly versitile, but best suited for jazz, fusion, and some classic rock. Anything heavier and I'd probably want something more like my Sterling music man or Fender basses. This Carvin is definitely my feel good instrument to just mess around with though.
I'll suggest a G&L L2000 for versalitiy that goesfrom vintage into aggressive tones. I've had one for a while and it's my go-to for so much. Best bass I've ever owned. They're seriousy underrated.
Also getting bogged down in fixing and modding others, got some real old Ibanezeses that are cool as all hell.
Any wonder I don't have any money.
