Cmu - pronounced "Shmoo". Exploring the mysteries of the solar system on a student loan, local scholarship, and a part time job.
She was the lead character of comedy/adventure comic series planned in '88/'89 that would have a team of losers (thrown together by misfortune) investigating a deepening network of crimes in 2222 leading them to each planet in the solar system with each episode chuck full of scientific facts about the planet and it's moons. An educational chunk woven into the plot of each episode. With drama and jokes. It was a cool time to do small press comics so ...
But work and life got in the way. This was a 'nostalgic' picture from a couple years later. i don't know if i could choose a "ten favorite inkings" - cuz that would all be apples and oranges - but , if i had a top ten personal favorite inkings i had ever done in my entire life ..... Nah. It's still a stupid idea. - But i am fond of this little picture.

While Shmoo was obviously known as the source of the word it was originally considered by moi and co-creator in the popular usage of the nym describing a smear/shapeless/non-descript character - she had Olive Oyl dot eyes, a sort of rectangular head, and non-curvy body. She was also a teen student from a small tribe of workers in her freshman year away from home and so she was discovering the larger world (solar system) and starting to develop some ideas about it and herself. we were probably going to spell her name with a caron or cedilla.
