This was kind of a drawing where I mostly ran out of time and thus didn't spend as much time on it as I would have otherwise wanted. Mostly I wanted an excuse to draw my vasaena race again, though I should probably work a bit more making it clear they aren't just generic fox-taurs. But the main thing I wanted to try and do was think about what kind of sport would a tauric species play when they are very vulnerable and thus really can't handle contact. And figured I'd go with baseball since that's mostly just about running and hand-eye coordination, two things vasaena are really good at.
And then started thinking about what kind of modifications would they likely have. For starters they would likely wear a harness to protect their bellies, but only in a situation where they may have to slide. And for similar reason they'd all wear shoes, not only for even better grips but again to protect themselves when sliding along the course sand of the park. And then my mind wandered to what kind of headwar would they have and I figured that it'd mostly depend on where they are. The batter, which is at risk of getting hit in the side of the head would want that part covered and protected, even if it means locking their ear in place. The back ear is in nowhere nearly enough danger of harm if a ball hits it so it can be left uncovered. The pitcher is in extremely low risk, so they can leave their ears free to be aware of their surroundings. The catcher, also is able to have their ears free as the catcher's mask would be able to protect that part of their face and head without needing to cover the ears. Might eventually do a kind of image just theory-crafting helmet designs.
Now for the image itself, mostly meh. Other projects delayed me too much so I wasn't able to spend a lot of time on it. I think the batter's upper torso should have been slanted a bit more, and maybe even out the infield a bit more. But for the time spent, especially with 3 characters, I think it turned out decently enough. Total drawing time of 3 hours.
