Ode to Nuclear Power Plants
There are a lot of things we take for granted in this world, and I think some of them deserve a moment in the spotlight.
If you can think of anything else that deserves an ode, let me know! They're fun to come up with, and take all of ten minutes. :P This particular idea was suggested to me by
Didgeridude. It's a little less comical than the other two I've written thus far, but given the subject matter it touches on I figure that was the right call.

I'm outright irritated by people who knock nuclear energy without understanding it (almost as much as I'm irritated by the local yokels around here who are opposing wind farm development for fear of the turbines emitting the brown note or some such garbage). People love to let fear drive them rather than make the effort to learn. Even those who oppose nuclear power for the legitimate reason of dangerous waste are short-sighted; the problem could be defined as the emission of hazardous energy, but the emission of any energy should clue us in that we're not done with the supposedly spent fuel yet. What we really need is some intensive research and development. But... I'm basically just ranting on a personal hot button issue, so I'll STFU now.
Gotta love nuke energy. one thing I always note is simply how many people each year die in coal mining accidents, compared to the singular accident where some people died in a nuclear power disaster, that being one in a soviet built reactor that was running a soviet designed experiment that should have never happened.
People just seem, imo, to get their nuclear power plant facts from The Simpsons. They truely have no actual understanding of how it works, why it works, and just how incredibly safe it really is....
