"Welcome to your new body."
In one of the little mythos' running through my mind, there's a company, "Lifeforms International" which appears now and then. This is the world where the snakes aren't demon worshippers, gifted that form by Odon, but rather people rich enough to pay to become something else. I tend to imagine the company "growing" the new bodies, then doing some form of consciousness transplant into it. An actual brain transplant would be slightly more realistic, but it could also be some pseudo-science "consciousness transfer," which is what is represented here.
"... now go eat your old one."
Of course, the new snake is going to be rather hungry when he wakes up. He's probably already connected to the snake's senses, given by the tongue flicking, but still "getting wired up" to the rest of the body. They need to dispose of the old body and need to feed the new snake, so let's just solve two problems at the same time!
They have long since learned leaving any med techs in the room when the snake wakes up often "doesn't end well" for them.
(The snake is actually pretty large here; he looks smaller only because of the relative distance from the camera.)
