Najani was nice enough to let us have her awesome lineart tutorial on her site THANKS =D ,
DA comment: Now, I know I always complain about how I hate my lineart, but I thought maybe I'd still make this; I haven't seen any tutorials for GIMP that show how to make your lines taper with the paths tool. xD It took all day, especially since I actually finished a whole nother version of it before I realized that, well, I did nothing but ramble. =w=

What does it say about Corel and PS programs that I was able to color, and sketch a lot better with GIMP than with their programs? Sure, it took some getting used to, and shuffling the mini-windows can be slightly annoying. But even so, It's a steal at half the price of their programs, let alone FREE!!! So, I'm not complaining
My only issue with GIMP's path/line tool is that it's often hard for me to tell which direction the software will stroke. Making the calligraphy and brush style lines looking odd.
Another trick I think you should add is re-coloring the lines after creation. bare with me because I don't know the names of all the features I use in GIMP. By selecting the layer of the line(s) you wish to recolor, and then in the tool box locate the checkbox with the checkerboard box beside it. That locks the alpha channel and allows you to paint over the lines on that layer without destroying the transparent areas. I'll provide an example
Link is questionable, but serves a purpose. http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6756379
The tool allows me to lay out my line work first, then go back and color them as needed without having to mess with the "select" features.
On a side note, I've learned how to do a few tricks that can be done in GIMP and photoshop; if you'd like I can make a couple tutorials ^_^
