I shot these photos at the “Wild Lights” special event at the Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, Kansas. Asian lantern sculptures were scattered throughout the zoo. The theme was Down the Rabbit Hole and many of the displays were based on scenes from Alice in Wonderland.
This dragon makes sure none of the zoo visitors are misbehaving. There were so many people, it was impossible to avoid getting some in this shot. But that’s okay, as they lend scale to the enormity of the sculpture.

Seeing this in person would be mindblowing. I love anything lantern related, and I especially like the Asian aesthetic. And as you say, the people give a sense of just how impressive this sculpture is.
I've enjoyed all of your photos from the Sedgwick event, and this is my favourite.
