Some time back, my workplace got a batch of old 16mm reels of educational classroom films to be disposed of. Knowing that was their fate, I took some of them, largely to use as props in photoshoots like this and in YouTube videos, along with hanging one up as a wall decoration. They do have a bit of that "vinegar syndrome," but since I'm not going to actually project them or try to digitize them or anything like that, this is fine. (The smell isn't very strong from the reel hanging on my wall, either.) That strip of film Zak Wolf is holding up is part of an SMPTE universal countdown leader; you know, the classic one that goes from 8 to 2, and is also a feature built onto Adobe Premiere Pro when creating video files for digital cinema projectors or for broadcast.
What can I say? Zak Wolf LOVES filmmaking!
