I didn't dislike him before...but when I saw SAW 7 I wanted burst out my inner in his face and chop his left foot TO FEED MY...tiny dog .___.
Hoffman had always been my favorite he's like a big poofy dog you just want to pet and feed cookies :3

Im exactly the same. I never had any issues with DR G until saw 7. From some angles, he looks a bit like my fiancee so I forced myself to like him, but saw 7 was just......I wanted him dead. At least leave the damn saw in there with him; that was just cruel!

And I bet this was all planned because Hoffman would turn "omg so mad so violent" (Jiggy should think about what he done to him first eh!) but leaving him to die there...wtf! Yes it is cruel and makes Grodon then no better than him! >< Pfff

Yeah, they ruined his character. There were loads of indications in earlier saw movies about how he really didn't like killing people or putting them in traps, probably one of most telling but least noticed were the tears he had on his cheeks when he pulled the pig mask off in saw 5, just after he and Jiggy had kidnapped Paul.
Then shortly after, Jiggy having to give him a speech about how 'the heart cannot be involved'. Then the fact that he regularly asked Jiggy how much longer he would have to keep doing it. And the fact that, y'know, people who have been cops for 20 years don't just suddenly decide to get joy out of murdering people.
I have no idea why the saw writers decided to ditch all the suggestions of him being a decent guy and just turn him into a psycho.
I really was hoping in saw 7 that they'd delve more into his character, explain what happened to his family (since he made a very obvious point of saying his sister was his 'only family') and stuff, but nope. They just made it a ridiculous gorefest with absolutely no real attention paid to Hoff or Jill, or any of the past unanswered questions that everyone was hoping they'd address.
Reactions weren't good on the saw forums either. Most people weren't happy with this movie.
A lot of people thought bringing dr g back was a huge cop-out, too. I know some people who actually walked out of the cinema when Dr G was revealed to be so relevent to the whole thing, because they thought it was so cheap and lazy.
I mean, I adore these movies, and honestly didn't think they could do anything to make me disappointed with one, but they managed to do the one thing that would ensure that: fuck up Hoffman. Way to go, people.
The only good thing about the whole movie was Jigsaw in a baseball cap getting a book signed. That amused me.

My friend thought the ending was SO COOL because omg she loves Gordon and the ending was really cool because Hoffman deserved it and Gordon's really badass...................................NO. The ending sucked. End of story, wtf just happened, directors and writers?

I am also rat freak (and know Saw movies...) and I have "serie" about rats and rat furries. Here in FA is not much but my dA gallery is full of Viakers (my serie is called Viake).
