Bulda would grunt as she continued to push through the flurry of winds, huffing to herself as hot breath steamed from her beak. She’d been climbing up this ridge for the past while now, working herself up to the peak of this mountain that had always been shrouded in storms. Ever since she had started her training here all those months ago, she’d seen this mountain far off in the distance. Even on the clearest of days here, she’d seen the storm rage, the mountain almost seeming to have its own localized maelstrom it kept perpetually active no matter the weather around it. She was intrigued by it, and now, after all her training, she had felt it was finally time to go about seeing how much she’d learned, and testing herself to see what lay within its storm.
She mrrffed as another gust caught directly underneath her, threatening to push her off the sheer mountain face she was climbing as she braced herself firmly, digging her claws into the snow and rock as best she could to keep that from happening. She looked forward, seeing a glimmer of light ahead as she did, pushing toward it as she kept her body aflame with her inner fire. She’d been training for this the entire time, this ‘slight breeze’ wouldn’t get the best of her! She pressed forward, inch by inch, hands held above her face as she pushed one step, then one more. The wind caught against her form, threatening her, seeming to try and do everything in its power to keep her away. But she would not let it, she would conquer this, and prove her training to be a success!
And with one final push, she almost seemed to ‘burst’ into the center of the storm. The ‘eye’ where all the winds seemed to swirl, a near deadzone at the peak of the mountain that she stumbled and almost fell into with how hard she was pushing. She righted herself from the lean, and stood tall as she huffed, warm air still puffing out of her nose as the steam contrasted the icy world she now lay within. The air almost seemed to be frozen, the area even getting to the point that Bulda herself let a shiver flow through her body. It seemed almost as if outside in the blizzard was warmer, and Bulda soon began to understand why as her eyes drifted to a lump of snow that sat before her.
The snow began to move, shifting and falling as a blue avian began to emerge. The being had ice crystals all across its feathers, said crystals falling away as it stood, outside of three large and prominent ones located atop its head. The being looked almost glamorous, a black tight bit of clothing being the only thing adorning its figure, keeping it ‘modest’ even as it looked extremely alluring.
“You must be what’s been keeping this storm going”, Bulda would state in a cocky tone, though the fact her breath almost seemed to freeze from her mouth as she spoke was not lost on her. “Do you mind if we have a little sparring match? I know that’s a bit strange to ask in our first meeting but you seem incredibly powerful, and I’d like to see if all my training has been worth it.”
The avian didn’t seem to respond, its body only going about the process of facing Bulda as she gave her a curious look. She let out a small shrill chirp from her beak, almost seeming to be questioning. This made Bulda turn her own head slightly. Was…was this individual so disconnected that she didn’t know the common tongue?
“Hello?” Bulda chirped back at her, her ability to speak the ‘poke tongue’ incredibly rusty given its near extinct use in this world. But all poke had at least an intrinsic basic ‘good enough’ knowledge of it, and she’d give her a questioning gaze as the bird would chirp back at her.
“You…you..you speak bad tongue” the individual would chirp, a shrill cry coming from her throat as she eyed her closely. “Why?”
“Bad tongue?” Bulda responded with a squawk, “What mean?”
“Bad tongue, bad tongue, tongue of them!” The individual squawked back, her wings spreading as she became exasperated. “Tongue of bad them!”
“Sorry I don’t understand?!?” Bulda chirped in response, but that just made the avian in front of her give her a long glare. A few frozen tears seemed to form in her eyes, but they fell away as her glare hardened, and she flapped her wings heavily as she lifted up in the air.
“Bad, Bad them, bad you! No understand, try to trick! GO AWAY!”
And with that, the blue avian sent her wings out wide, and a massive gust of chilled air blasted forward at Bulda. She quickly held up her hands and growled, annoyed at this primitive individual's ability to make any sense! But, she sighed a bit despite the glare on her face, at least she was getting the fight she wanted, even if it wasn’t in the way she wanted! She could feel her arms beginning to frost over as she held them up, the chilling air being made worse by the frigid motion of it, but she’d push up her own powers and burst her arms into flames, the fire igniting through even the wind and chilled air as she sent a warm gust right back at the blue avian before giving her a huffing chirp.
“Talk later then, after WIN!”.
She then burst forward, the rest of her body igniting in flame as she crashed through the chilling gust and lept toward the flying avian. A loud ‘bRRREEEE!’ cry came from her as she flapped her wings and a torrent of snow suddenly coated the landscape. Bulda sailed through said snow, and cursed as her attack failed to connect, the individual seeming to almost vanish into the snow as she landed back on her feet. She whirled around, doing her best to track the movements of the individual before gasping as rocks sailed through the flowing ice and wind around her. She dodged, rolling through the snow as the rocks impacted and a burst of white crystals kicked up from their heavy impact. Bulda then ignited her form in flame once more, and rocketed around and lept with a kick toward the direction from which they came.
“COME ON!” She squawked out, slamming her burning foot directly into the side of the individual who clearly didn’t expect her to track her presence. The blue avian let out a shrill cry of pain as she went sailing into the snow, tumbling and rolling as she cried out in desperate anguish. Those cries became further high pitched squawking roars, as a sudden intense flow of icy wind rocketed from her downed position. Bulda gasped as she felt it approach, feeling the air around the attack no longer almost freeze, but completely freeze, the pocket heading toward her almost seeming to be a flying ice ball, but Bulda knowing it would pass straight through her, and leave her very much out of the fight if it did.
So she’d kick her speed that much more into gear, and plant her feet before rocketing herself to the side in a mad dash to escape the torrent. She felt her long flowing hair and the small tip of her tail feathers freeze completely over as she lept the last bit of distance to get herself largely out of the way, feeling the chill that wafted toward her so heavily she began to shiver furiously despite herself. She rapidly began to force her body to ignite in flame again, trying to fight against the cold as her breath froze and fell from her beak as she could hear the blue avian’s wailing cries from deep within the growing inner maelstrom. She felt like she might have done something wrong, the cries of pain almost seeming to come from one who had never truly felt it before, and she wondered if all this power had kept this being completely isolated and incapable of ever seeing those around her.
With that realization, Bulda let out a sigh. She felt bad, but she needed to end this. If she let this continue, she could already feel even her trained fire starting to sputter out. It was as if the entire area was being forced into absolute zero, and she didn’t have time to get out of it and leave her be. So despite the difficulty in seeing through this massive snow shroud, she knew of her last ace in the hole that she’d been working up the ability to use for the entire time she’d been training.
So she dug her heels into the snow, let out one final frozen breath, and then put all her speed into one final blitz. Her fire left her form as her speed took over, all her flames ‘powering’ her physique as she almost blinked forward at lightning speed. She twisted and shifted through the air, dashing through the maelstrom and clocking the avian at the center of it, blinking through the whole storm in an instant and slamming all her built up force into the back of the avian’s head. A powerful, sure fire hit, just as she had trained, as the back of her fist almost seemed to slow down time as it cracked into the back of the blue avian's skull.
And in an instant, time resumed, and her opponent rocketed face first into the snow, dropping completely unconscious. The Maelstrom around her dissipated instantly, leaving only the storm that still raged around the two of them. The frigid air seemed to almost ‘warm up’ as Bulda breathed, puffs of air no longer freezing, but steaming from her beak as she held her fist aloft for several moments.
She then brought it back in a fist pump, a ‘fuck yea!’ leaving her break as she pumped her fist from her chest into the air.
“I fucking did it! And I didn’t even need to mega evolve! HAAAA!” she yelled, her body bursting in heat and melting a bit of the snow around her as she yelled into the quiet eye of the storm. She then let out a sigh, looking down at her unconscious opponent, and giving her a grin.
“That was a fantastic fight, I do hope you don’t think too harshly of me when you wake up.” She stated largely to herself, chuckling as she leaned down to turn the avian over to make sure she wouldn’t suffocate. She gave a look up and down her form to make sure she didn’t look too worse for wear, and besides a hole melted into the chest of her outfit with some singed blue feathers, and the welt on the back of her head, this bird seemed to be largely ok. She gave her a nod, and was about to go about leaving when something caught her eye against the blue avian’s plumage. Her white tufts of feathers against her neck began to stir, almost seeming to have a mind of their own until dark black feathers seemed to form over them.
“What the heck-?” She began to ask, transfixed by the motion before suddenly an icy chill burst into her mind. The black feathers almost seemed to gain a blue pair of eyes, and as they seemed to stare up into Budla’s, a pulsing glare seemed to chill her entire body to the core. She grunted, feeling it overtake her head and trying to do her best to resist it, but she’d just spent a lot of her energy keeping herself from freezing over during that fight, so even though her mind fought hard, her body seemed to entirely give in to the freezing effect chilling it to the core. She let out a soft curse then as her body seemed to seize up despite herself.
“Fucking, hell…” She said slowly, before she fell face first into the snow next to the avian. Her head turned to the side, her whole body rigid as if entirely frozen, as her mind fought to keep itself awake despite the growing cold feeling being pressed and forced upon it.
But after a time, the storm that had been held around the peak of the mountain began to fade, and as it did, Bulda felt a surge of frigid feeling force its way completely around her mind. And while her body sat entirely still, her mind finally lost the fight, and she found herself falling completely into unconsciousness.
And it wouldn’t be too long afterward, drawn by the sudden disappearance of the storm that had kept them at bay for so long, that the ‘bad them’ that this avian was so afraid of would make their way up the mountain. And the two prizes they’d find at the top, unconscious and incapable of resisting them, would be more than they ever could have hoped for…
FINALLLLY XD After literally a year from the point I had planned to do this initially, I finally have Glais's follow up story written and posted aaaa ; v ; friggen heck it took forever, that and finishing Bulda's 'training arch' in the winter tundra too, friggen heck this took to long to get out.
